Test your app on Android and iOS
Build a staging APK or IPA, install it on your phone or an emulator and try the app for real.
Native apps cannot really be viewed in the browser: the editor preview of a native app is a rough simulation. To test it, build a test version and install it.
Android
- In the preview panel, click “Build Staging APK” (or open “Publish” > Preview).
- The build can take more than 3 minutes. If you need to, you can cancel it with “Cancel build”.
- When it finishes, download the APK with “Download APK” or scan the QR code from your Android phone (“Scan from your Android device”).
- Install it on an Android phone or an emulator (for example, BlueStacks).
Sometimes the “Open in Emulator” button also appears. It starts an Android emulator in the browser and installs the APK. It takes up to a minute.
If your balance is negative you will not be able to build test versions until you add funds.
iOS
Build a staging IPA with “Build Staging IPA” and install it with Xcode or on a compatible simulator.
Always test on a real device
Before you consider the app finished, test it on a real phone: an Android app looks very different on a phone than on an emulator.
Test (debug) builds are unlimited on all plans, including the free one.
